The NWHO is a nonprofit organization devoted to the protection of the environment and marine life and oceans, collecting and analyzing data, providing healthcare and education, promoting adaptation metrics and technologies to reduce CO2 emissions, educating the public about peaceful science and intellectual property rights, alleviating poverty, improving the lives of older adults, preserving and advocating human, democratic, women's and children's rights, enhancing agriculture and food security, promoting tourism and trade justice, protecting biodiversity, preserving heritage, helping handicapped persons, developing the economy and human beings, protecting war victims, combating climate change and providing humanitarian aid locally and globally regardless of race, color, religion, or cultural background. NWHO's fundamental mission is to address pressing issues affecting the environment, the earth, oceans, and society as a whole.

The Code of Good Practice for NGOs Responding to HIV
The NWHO is a signatory to the Code of Good Practice for NGOs Responding to HIV/AIDS. Our commitment and response to HIV is guided by the Code of Good Practice for NGOs Responding to HIV. The Code of Good Practice sets out key standards, methods and evidence base required for effective responses to HIV and organizations commit to continuous improvement and accountability by supporting the Code of Good Practice.
CHS Guidance Notes and Indicators
The NWHO is a member of the CHS Alliance and adheres to the guidance notes and indicators of the CHS which are a supplement to the Core Humanitarian Standard on Quality and Accountability (CHS).
The People in Aid Code of Good Practice in the management and support of aid personnel
The NWHO is a full member of People In Aid which is an internationally recognized management tool that helps development and humanitarian assistance agencies enhance the quality of their human resources management.
The Keeping Children Safe Coalition standards
The NWHO is a member of the Keeping Children Safe Coalition and is also committed to the Keeping Children Safe Standards. The purpose of the Keeping Children Safe is to achieve the highest level of protection for children and advocates organizations for the adoption of international standards on safeguarding children.
The SPHERE Project – Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response
The NWHO is also committed to the Sphere Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards in Disaster Response. The Sphere Project is based on two core beliefs: first, that all possible steps should be taken to alleviate human suffering arising out of calamity and conflict, and second, that those affected by disaster have the right to a life with dignity and therefore a right to assistance.
