GIFT OF HEARING AID PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
More than 360 million people (approximately 5.3 percent of the world’s population) in the world have disabling hearing loss and most of them living in developing countries (World Health Organization, 2015). A hearing aid is a small electronic device which improves the hearing of those with hearing loss so by using this a person with hearing loss can listen, talk, and take part more fully in daily activities but unfortunately it is too expensive and a large proportion of people in developing countries cannot afford the high cost of hearing aids. According to a recent WHO, 72 million people in developing countries who have hearing loss require hearing aids. Thus many hearing impaired people in poor countries whose incomes are very low are struggling to buy hearing aids but Infact they are not able to buy this device at last they live without hearing. Life without hearing can have devastating effects on both relationships and cognitive ability.
NWHO Hearing aid program provides at no cost hearing aids to individuals who have incomes that are significantly limited who cannot afford the high costs of good quality hearing devices and who have exhausted and spent all possible resources for their hearing health. Each patient faces his or her own unique challenges so every application for hearing aid device is considered on an individual basis based on financial and hearing aid device(s) need.
