Million Tree Campaign in Pakistan ( 2008)
Over 275,000 Trees Planted at 75 Sites Throughout country in 2007
Pakistan has a forest cover of 4.22 million ha. In order to enhance area under tree cover in the country , tree planting campaigns are launched every year at the national level during spring and monsoon seasons. Every year a minimum of 200,000 saplings are planted as part of this campaign.
The tree planting campaign was launched by the New World Hope Organization in 2007 with the objective of making a "green world".NWHO successfully completed Tree planting Project of 2007 and planted over 275,000 trees at 75 sites throughout Pakistan in 2007.
In 2008, Chairman of NEW WORLD HOPE ORGANIZATION Muhammad Ajmal Khan inaugurated the Spring Tree Planting Campaign 2008 by planting 200,000 saplings and the NWHO also gave 50000 plants to schools and citizens of Nowshera to plant trees in their yards. During this Campaign in Pakistan 01 Million saplings will be planted by the end of 2010 all over the country by NWHO teams, with involvement of general public, NGOs and corporate sector. Target includes Planting 02 lac saplings in Punjab, 01 lac in Sindh, 02
lac in North West Frontier Province, Pakistan (
NWFP),
03 lac in Balochistan, 01 lac in Pakistani administered Kashmir.

NOTE: The local population becomes an essential part of this program, most importantly by getting involved in tree propagation, planting, and educational activities.
