Pakistan faces a catastrophe which the United Nation’s has declared as the world’s worst natural disaster. Up to 20 million people in 78 districts of Pakistan are estimated to have been displaced by torrential Monsoon rains and flooding which have been ongoing since mid-July.

The number of people affected by the flood is more than the combined total from the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami, the 2005 Pakistan earthquake and the 2010 Haiti earthquake.

The flood waters came in districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Province without any warning and then really suddenly, the water went up to the roofs." The most affected districts In KPK are Nowshehra and Charsadda because of heavy flood in river Kabul and swat, where many villages have swept away. The record of past 60 years rain is broken as hundred of rural villages are demolished and communication roads/channels are destroyed.

In response to the tragic humanitarian disaster, New World Hope Organization distributed 500 women shawls to the 500 flood affected women in Village Shabara ( KPK) with the support of Shanti Volunteer Association (SVA) on 04 October, 2010.

The village, “Shabara Mutabar Korona” is most affected village in Charsadda District. Flood water came 10-15 feet height and 10-15 feet high flood water washed away everything in Village Shabara Mutabar Korona. Flood water has washed away not only their homes and belongings but also their aspirations and joys.
