FOOD AND WATER
The 2010 Pakistan floods began in late July 2010 following heavy monsoon rains in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Punjab and Balochistan regions of Pakistan. Pakistan Flood 2010 is being called the worst disaster of the decade by some; the destruction caused by the massive floods that hit

The floods killed more than 1,700 people, and damaged or destroyed nearly 1.9 million homes across four provinces
NWHO launched its relief and rehabilitation program for flood relief victims on 29 July, 2010, by sending out a field team to survey the affected areas and finalize sites for
health camps, and food distribution. The main components of the program included food and non-food
items, health camps and water tanks for drinking water. Rapid assessment in flood affected areas

Our staff conducted assessments at village levels and distributed support and relief goods to the affected families.
NWHO responded to the flood by starting arelief operation. The field team comprised "staff and volunteers". We also started the Cooked Food Distribution Program to provide ready-to-eat meal (MRE) packets. New World Hope Organization’s volunteer team started on Sep 24, 2010 and distributed MRE packets to flood victims for lunch and dinner.
So far we have distributed a total of 25,000 MRE packets and 25,000 chlorine tablets to people in the Swat, Charsadda, Peshawar (KPK) and Muzzafargarh (Punjab) and NWHO Constructed of 150 emergency latrines for the flood affected population in Nowshera district.
Cooked Food:
- In the Swat, Charsadda, Peshawar and Nowshera (Khyber Pakhtunkhwa) districts 15,000 MRE packets were distributed on a daily basis.
- In the Muzzafargarh (Punjab) dsitrict 10,000 MRE packets were distributed.
- 16,000 chlorine tablets were distributed in the Charsadda (KPK) district and 9000 in Nowshera (KPK).
Water:
- Responding to the flood emergency, NWHO Provided 30 water tanks for Drinking Water in the Nowshera and Charsadda districts.
Food Packets:
- In response to the floods, New World Hope Organization distributed 5,500 food packets in Nowshera and Charsadda, consisting of flour, pulses and ORS. 5,500 1.5L bottles of mineral water have also been distributed.
